Initiated and funded by The Chicago Community Trust, Chicago Matters is an annual exploration—via television, radio, print and community dialogue—of an issue of broad concern to the Chicago region.
About Growing Forward
Chicago Matters: Growing Forward will focus each month on a different aspect of our region’s resources including air, transportation, water and food.
Recycle your clothes. The Environmental Protection Agency says in 2006 Americans threw out more than 7 million tons of clothes. Give your clothes to a charity or organize a clothing swap with friends and family. You can also find companies that recycle old clothes and shoes. Finally, try shopping in vintage and consignment clothing stores instead of always buying new.
